About Us
The school has been in operation since 1969 as a direct result of the Shark Bay Salt Joint Venture vision of establishing a community through attracting potential employees and their families. The current building was built in 1986 and is maintained by the mining company which facilitates a close working relationship with the school. The teaching staff and physical resourcing of the school is governed by the Education Department of Western Australian policies and guidelines which can be accessed from the following website www.det.wa.edu.au.
Since the school was established it has gained a reputation for high achievement and opportunity for educational excellence. The school prides itself on the personal approach and involvement of families, building a close partnership in assisting students in reaching their educational heights. The multi age structure of classes is a special strength of the school which enables the facilitation and achievement of strong academic results in a range of educational pursuits, and the small number of students in the school naturally encourages cooperation and teamwork. Support of SBR has enabled several projects to be implemented over the years including funding to improve Literacy, Numeracy and Science. Technology will have a continued focus in 2021 to support the STEM focus of the Education Department.
